About
NAME ALIZE AGE 32 BIRTHPLACE BALDUR'S GATE, LOWER CITY RACE TIEFLING CLASS TWILIGHT DOMAIN CLERIC ALIGNMENT LAWFUL GOOD (ILMATARI REMIX)
TL;DR: Tiefling Jesus takes sleight of hand proficiency so that she can steal your gold and donate it to inner city orphanages.

Alize was raised in the Outer City of Baldur's Gate and struck out on her own at a very young age. The ruthlessness of city life shaped her into a quick-witted, fast-talking, fleet-footed individual who has never been above doing whatever it takes to survive. Though she can be a bit cynical and her humor is as black as her dramatic eye makeup, her heart has always been kind and her major motivator in life is to alleviate the suffering of others.

As a tiefling, an orphan, and a delinquent, life was obviously unkind to Alize. Not content to sit around and wish for a world that did better for people like herself, she found a wealth of opportunities to do something about it with the Open Hand Temple, which was the first institution to show her the power of kindness and compassion. She took to healing almost immediately, which finally gave her something to do when wanderlust struck hard and she needed to follow her curiosities.

She was on a mission to send aid to neighbors in the north when she was abducted by a Nautiloid and fitted with an Illithid tadpole. Whatever anyone tells her, she's still convinced that she's on that mission and will help absolutely fucking anybody who asks, even if they are goblins who have been pretty rightfully imprisoned.

Alize takes the dogma of the Ilmatari very, very seriously. She will sacrifice all or parts of herself without hesitation and the party is constantly low on gold because charity is her love language. She believes in compassion to a ruinous degree, but her unwavering faith is also a dangerous weapon with which she is particularly adept. Her bleeding heart might make her an easy mark for those who seek to manipulate her, but her ferocity makes it an unwise risk to take.

Alize has a lot of problems with authority and zero tolerance for tyranny. She is instantly repulsed whenever she is in receipt of a command or an order, and she will go out of her way to test the mettle of anyone who believes their word is law. (Lae'zel.) She's prone to wandering off without warning, she finds it difficult to resist sneaking into restricted areas, and she's always down for a night of shameless debaucheries and victimless crimes. She is Baldurian, after all.

SPOILERS FOR BALDUR'S GATE 3 BELOW

Though Alize is motivated by the opportunity to perform acts of goodness, she is also a realist who is excruciatingly aware of the ways in which those with power and influence dominate her realm. She will jump at the first chance to seize any little shred of it for herself, knowing that if she leaves an opportunity on the table, someone far worse will eventually come along to claim it.

She loses one eye this way, traded for the ability to detect hidden presences. She spends most of the game in search of The Tharchiate Codex and fully embraces necromancy once it is discovered. (She was a necro-dabbler beforehand, so it is no major diversion for her.) She evolves without hesitation when prompted by the Emperor because she sees no other choice if she is to save her companions. (Scratch especially, she'd trade any part of herself to keep that pup in kibble and cuddles for the rest of his life.) To her, there is no questioning whether she should or should not sacrifice herself for the cause.

Of course, none of this needs to be acknowledged in RP at all, but I figured I'd leave it here for a better look at her character and in case it prompts any interesting interactions.

BACKGROUND
Urchin
Forced to survive on her own in one of the most dangerous cities in all of FaerΓ»n, Alize has picked up a proficiency with sleight of hand and stealth. She is able to pick locks with a little luck and can create passable disguises for herself and her allies.

SPELLBOOK
Life Transference
Alize can sacrifice her health to heal an ally.

Spirit Guardians
Alize can call upon the spirits to protect her. Any enemies who step into the circle of spirits take radiant damage and their movement speed is halved.

Twilight Sanctuary (Channel Divinity)
Alize surrounds herself with an 18m sphere of twilight. The sphere moves with her and anyone within the sphere will receive additional fortitude or stop being charmed or frightened every 6 seconds.

Eyes of Night
Alize has darkvision up to 300 feet. This effect can be shared with an ally.

FEATS
Resilient
Alize's constitution is bolstered, making her spells harder to interrupt.

Appearance
Alize is about 170cm (5'6"), with a solid, boyish frame and a shock of silvery hair, which goes through whimsome cycles of being short and choppy or shaved and teased. In the sun, her hair and skin take on a resplendent golden glow. Her eyes are hazel with a subtle touch of blue-gray, which either gives her a somber or terrifying look, depending on the circumstances.

Alize has a pair of long, dark horns that jut upwards from her skull and taper off into sharp points. She has adorned them with holy symbols, two silver discs that are imprinted with the image of Ilmater's hands. Her tail is long with a heavy spade at the end, which is often found nosing into curious nooks and corners, seeming to operate independently from the rest of her.

Alize has a lot of visible scarring, which is due in part to her experience in battle and her rough start in life. The rest are compliments of something called Sufferings, which the Temple has never actually asked her to undertake. Alize is just always down for a good Suffering.

When adventuring, she wears dark leathers sewn up with sturdy plates to allow for her to move swiftly and stealthily. She outlines her eyes in dark kohl and keeps her hair obscured by a dark hood that has been ripped across the top to make room for her horns. She chooses to wrap her feet rather than opting for the protection of boots, which allows her to creep quietly in almost any terrain and keeps her in step with her god when it is difficult and painful.

!!WARNINGS!!
Alize's story involves a lot of pain and suffering, which is sort of the whole point of her god. She has devoted herself entirely to helping those in extreme need and has seen some shit, both in her practice and in her own life. Under very specific conditions, she might mention past experiences with ritualistic self-harm, body horror, mind control, sexual abuse, abject poverty, abusive figures of authority, fantasy racism, illness, or death. She's not about to ruin brunch with it and I wouldn't fling a heavier subject at someone out of nowhere, but there's an opt out post here if you'd like.

WRITING
Brackets or prose are both fine, happy to match whatever you prefer. Tbh as an OC I'm just happy to be here, man.

CROSS-CANON
I'm here for it. While I love any characters with fantasy or tabletop backgrounds, I'm also down to AU her into more modern or sci-fi canons. (If I know them well enough.) Any character from any canon or medium is welcome to tag her.

CASTMATES
I will always check your permissions before engaging and try my best to act in accordance with whatever your preferences are. While Alize is open to shipping with any of the companions, I'm a huge fan of platonic interactions as well. Feel free to PM me if anything needs to be worked out OOC or if you want to nail down the specifics of their relationship. I will usually default to Alize treating her companions with unwavering loyalty and deep platonic affection.

BACKTAGGING
Yes please! Feel free to poke if I haven't answered in awhile. Happy to drop threads that have run out of steam and start anew too.

THREADHOPPING
Sure.

FOURTHWALLING
Cheeky D&D references and the like are fine, but nothing that would throw Alize into an existential crisis please.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS
None.

SMUT
I do like to write it, but feel free to throw a FTB at me if you don't. Kink list is here.

IC Permissions
PHYSICAL AFFECTION
Yes to both platonic and romantic varieties.

FIGHTING/INJURY
Hell yes! Alize usually chooses NOT to fight, but she isn't going to pass up the chance to kick some ass either. She's also a healer, so I anticipate that injuries will come her way sooner or later.

TORTURE
All good with me as long as I'm expecting it. Alize is a cleric in service of the god Ilmater, whose entire schtick is suffering, so she has a very different relationship with pain and has a chance of being possessed by one of Daddy Ilmater's buddies in very extreme cases of it.

KILLING
PM first. (Unless it's on a meme where that is the whole point of the scenario.)

TELEPATHY/MIND READING
Yes! PM for more information, as this character has some funky mental stuff going on.

MIND CONTROL
As long as I know it's coming! Alize has a little Illithid worm in her head that may not like the challenge to its authority, but she's yet to pass a skill check anytime the game wants to take control of her, so it only feels right to play by those rules here too.

SHIPPING
I'm always down to ship anything that has chemistry. This includes cross-canon/medium/non-BG OC's/other Tavs/DUrges/whatever. Alize is pansexual, and while she takes much more time to develop deep and profound feelings for her lovers, she doesn't think much of a quick roll in the hay. Assumed CR is also fine with me, I will usually follow the flow of the scene and have Alize respond accordingly. By endgame Alize was in some kind of love with every single companion and I'll always play her as their platonic ride or die at least, but I also really like the idea of doing something completely fresh with other OC's. Also super open to poly ships!

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS
Alize worships Ilmater, patron of the suffering, sick, and poor. Her own past involves a lot of this, and she will not stand idly by if someone is in need. Torture, oppression, sexual assault, and violence against the innocent are huge triggers for her, but she also has more mundane triggers, like when members of the Flaming Fist get too gruff with the party and she decides then and there to initiate a huge battle in the center of the city.

History
Much of Alize's early life is a mystery to her. As far back as she can remember, she lived with a human man she called "Pops," even though she's relatively certain that he was not her father. Pops was often gone away to work onboard one of the ships that found port in Gray Harbour, and Alize's earliest memories were of waiting for his return on the steps that overlooked the docks, her eye for sails as good as any windworn old spotter.

Pops was not a warm man, but he wasn't unkind either. He was impossible to get a word out of and kept almost stubbornly to himself, but he would always share his lunch and any unprofitable wares with the beggar children who ran out to meet the boats as they drifted into docks. Impressed and yet worried for his grumbling tummy, a young Alize eventually decided to gather all the food that she could carry for his next homecoming. That day, Pops and the children had all the food that they could eat and Pop's tummy finally stopped grumbling.

Later, when it was just the two of them, Pops placed a hand on her shoulder and she knew that he was proud of her. He did not have to a say a word to imprint a very important lesson on her soul that day.

Soon after, Pops sailed away and never returned. Alize waited for him on the steps for as long as she could, but the city stepped in very quickly to reclaim their little home. With nowhere else to go, she begged for shelter from the only familiar face left in the city. This was an acquaintance of Pop's who oversaw supply lines for the fishing boats and was therefore landlocked most of the year. She went into it thinking that it might be nice not to be lonely so often.

This turned out to be a terrible arrangement. Though Alize was still a young child, she could not understand how to be mindful of any sort of restrictions or rules. Her new master, whom Alize knew only as "Sir," was very strict about his home and delighted in disciplining her. For two long winters, Alize worked tirelessly to please him in any capacity that he demanded of her. It did not take long for him to seize upon every opportunity to push her harder and harder, until finally Alize could no longer stand his torments and fled the Lower City entirely. To this day, it chills her to walk the streets in Heapside.

Fleeing to the ruthless streets of the Outer City, Alize finally found relief with the clerics of the Open Hand Temple. They were truly kind and saw to meals and shelter for her. Their devotees took her on tours of the grounds and let her bask in the sunshine of their courtyards. The other children taught her how to play and helped her learn how to read and write.

But Alize knew that she would disappoint them with her rebelliousness too and fled at the first opportunity. Kindness had become more terrifying to her than violence, because no matter what pain she had known in life, she knew their disappointment in her would be the one wound from which she could never recover. Instead, she locked the clerics and their teachings and their kindness away in her heart too, determined to find her own way to a path of goodness.

Life was harder than ever after the temple. The acts that were necessary to her survival diminished her soul and often put her at odds with herself. But she was no longer lost; there was a very clear direction that her life was taking, and she delighted in the pursuit of it. Outer City life was a dance she had no choice but to master quickly. And soon she found herself an old hat at navigating the politics and ploys of those cruel streets, finally in command of her own destiny.

The very moment that Alize had enough coin to spare, she finally returned to the Temple to begin paying off the debt that she owed them for saving her soul. To her surprise, the clerics welcomed her with open arms and did not disparage her for her need to break and run. Before she got the itch again, the Ilmatari taught her a better way.

The next time that Alize left the Temple, she did so with a gathering of clerics standing on the steps to grant her blessings and wish her a productive journey. She no longer roamed restlessly, instead working her way through outlying domains to tend the sick and weary in places that hadn't seen a healer in ages. And when she returned home, her Sisters and Brothers welcomed her back again with curiosity and joy.

To any Baldurian, Alize may be known to you as one of the clerics of the Open Hand Temple. She is considered a solid healer β€” when she can be found there. Alize is more often seen wandering the streets and countryside roads, usually with a gaggle of children following close by, their little arms full of all the food that they can carry.
